Philip is an experienced UK-based operator, with a track record of over 25 years in consumer durables, ceramics, and the trade / DIY paints sector in the UK.
He has gained expertise building and leading both private-equity backed businesses and corporates, ranging from £35–215m revenue. He spent the last 13 years of his career at Crown Paints, stepping-up to the Managing Director role in 2018.
H. Mears (Furnishers) Ltd. is a sixth-generation, family-owned flooring specialist based in Preston, Lancashire in the UK. Established in 1802, the company serves homeowners, house builders, hotels and institutions nationwide. Mears offers an extensive range of carpets, vinyl, laminates, and wood flooring, with expert fitting and exceptional service.
A leading business broker in the UK reached out to AIA and made us aware of a profitable, well run business which was in need of a succession solution. It had to be a solution which would preserve the legacy of the family and ensure that the company would continue to develop – without losing touch with its core values. Little more than six months later, we acquired H. Mears (Furnishers) Ltd.!
The AIA model is about aligning the interests of people and partners. Through our network, we were able to bring Philip together with the Mears family.
